Users of Proton – the software that allows Windows programs to run on Linux systems – will soon see performance improvements in games. NVIDIA has teamed up with Valve to boost FPS with DLSS technology.
DLSS allows you to achieve more performance without much loss in picture quality. So far, NVIDIA has not disclosed a list of Proton games that will receive support for the technology. It is worth noting that this improvement will most likely not affect games that have their own ports on Linux. NVIDIA has confirmed that DLSS will only appear in Windows games that run through Proton.
It is not yet clear when the access to the innovation will appear. The author of The Verge noted that this could make him return to gaming on Linux.
