At the same time, the expert recommended that you include in your diet more berries, which are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. The latter, in turn, helps nourish beneficial bacteria and helps reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract.
Marie Ruggles, M.D., consume fermented foods such as whole milk yogurt, kimchi, or sauerkraut. Eating these foods increases microbiome diversity, reduces inflammation, and improves the immune response, according to a recent study.
In turn, consuming large amounts of alcohol and processed foods negatively impacts gut health, experts said.
