Khabib Nurmagomedov
Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed plans for the next fights. He wrote about this under the post of the commentator of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Joe Rogan on Instagram.
Rogan admitted that he is waiting for the next fight with the participation of the Russian in the UFC. Earlier, the fight between 31-year-old Nurmagomedov and American Justin Gaethje was confirmed. At the same time, the Russian fighter took part in the discussion of the post, adding that he plans to fight with the ex-UFC champion Canadian Georges Saint-Pierre in April 2021.
On July 28, the head of the UFC, Dana White, allowed a duel between Saint-Pierre and Nurmagomedov. Earlier, White spoke about the impossibility of organizing a battle. The Canadian athlete himself attributed this to the unwillingness of the promotion to lose the champion. Saint-Pierre has already resumed his career for the title fight. In November 2017, after a four-year hiatus, he defeated Briton Michael Bisping, won the UFC middleweight belt and retired, leaving the title vacant.
In February 2019, Saint-Pierre announced his final retirement from the sport. At the same time, Nurmagomedov expressed his willingness to fight with the ex-champion. It is known that the father of the Russian athlete, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, also counted on a fight. Nurmagomedov Sr. died on July 3, 2020 as a result of complications caused by a previous coronavirus infection.
Nurmagomedov is the current holder of the UFC lightweight belt. He has 28 wins in 28 fights. The Russian holds the second line in the rating of the organization's fighters, excluding weight categories.
