Khabib Nurmagomedov
Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov explained the decision to retire. TASS reports.
According to the athlete, before the fight with American Justin Gage, he had serious injuries. The Russian admitted that he spent five days in intensive care. Nurmagomedov added that the decision to leave the sport was very difficult for him, since he has been training all his life. The fighter noted that now he will have to look for himself in a new capacity.
Earlier, the return of Nurmagomedov was allowed by his American trainer Javier Mendes and the head of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White. According to the latter, the Russian can resume his career for the sake of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who died of complications after suffering a coronavirus.
On October 24, Nurmagomedov defeated Gagee at the UFC tournament, retaining the promoted lightweight title belt. After the fight, he announced his retirement from the sport.
Nurmagomedov ranks first in the ranking of the best fighters in the UFC, excluding weight categories. On account of his 29 wins in 29 fights.
