Afghan activist and founder of the cultural and social organization Tamana Tamana Zaryab Paryani named the number of protesters in Kabul who suffered as a result of the shelling by militants of the radical Taliban movement ( banned in Russia as a terrorist organization ). In an interview with Lenta.ru, she said that two girls were slightly injured during the dispersal of the rally.
The Taliban also arrested the journalists covering the demonstration and confiscated their cameras, she said.
The incident took place on December 28 near the capital's hospital. Dozens of girls took to the protests with banners “We are the voice of the hungry people”, “Justice!”, “Long live humanity.” In response, the Taliban opened fire on the women.
The Taliban have repeatedly opened fire on peaceful demonstrators opposing the new government. So, in August, shortly after the seizure of power in Afghanistan, militants shot at a car that was driving under the country's national tricolor flag. Before and after that, they also opened fire on people with “republican” flags and on protesting women.
