British minister sees “no evidence” yet that Putin is ready to sit down at the negotiating table.
British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy believes that the US president-elect's peace plan is unlikely to work immediately after his inauguration and that an agreement will not be reached by January 21.
He spoke about this in an interview with BBC Radio 4.
“Donald Trump is not in power yet. I think from what I have seen over the last few days, there are signs of a little pushback that somehow an agreement will be reached on January 21. I think it's unlikely at the moment,” Lemmy said.
He said Trump's peace deal plans were being delayed until around Easter, which all Christians, despite their different calendars, will celebrate at the same time in 2025, on April 20.
“We're hearing that the timetable has shifted slightly towards Easter,” the British Foreign Secretary added.
David Lemmy noted that he doesn't see “any evidence” yet that Putin is willing to sit down at the negotiating table to end the war.
“[I don't see] any evidence that Putin wants to sit down at the negotiating table,” he stressed. he.
Lemmy also said that the post-Cold War era of peace is over, and Europe's future security is “on a knife edge.”
Recall that Keith Kellogg, the special representative for Ukraine and Russia appointed by US President-elect Donald Trump, predicted how long the search for an acceptable solution to end the war in Ukraine would continue.
