German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, during her speech at the Munich Security Conference 2022, called for clarification of the wording and calling the crisis on the border Russian, not Ukrainian.

She also stressed that Russia's behavior calls into question the security architecture of the whole of Europe.

“We are talking about human security, about whether people and their children can live safely in the center of Europe. Today we have to be very precise about the new war that is unfolding… This is not a “Ukrainian crisis”, we have to be very careful in our wording. We should say “Russian crisis,” Burbock said.

The Minister stated that the situation in Donbas has deteriorated sharply over the past two days, there have been hundreds of cases of ceasefire violations using weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

Annalena Burbock confirmed that Berlin is considering all options for a sanctions response if Russia attacks Ukraine again, including canceling the launch of Nord Stream 2.
