Geir Buholm, deputy director of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI), said that in the current situation, the coronavirus can be put on a par with seasonal infections. His words are reported by the Verdens Gang.
“We are now at a new stage where we must view the coronavirus as one of several seasonal respiratory diseases,” the scientist said. He drew attention to the fact that most people who are at risk are vaccinated, so hospitals are relatively free lately. However, this does not mean that the pandemic is over, because in developing countries, vaccinations are not reaching enough people, the deputy director of FHI added.
According to the FHI, as of September 20, about 82 percent of residents over 18 of the total population (more than 3.5 million people) were vaccinated in the country.
Earlier, therapist-immunologist Vladislav Zhemchugov said that at the first symptoms of malaise there is no difference between coronavirus, flu and colds. He added that coronavirus and seasonal respiratory infections are treated with similar drugs.
