Norway to Stop Granting Asylum to Refugees from Six Regions of Ukraine

by alex

Ukrainian refugees create a significant burden on the housing sector, healthcare and education systems.

The Norwegian government will not automatically grant asylum to all Ukrainians. Refugees from the West will be considered on an individual basis.

This was reported by RTE.

As explained by Justice Minister Emilie Enger Mehl, Norway cannot accept more refugees than the Nordic countries.

Thus, refugee applications from residents of Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions will be considered on an individual basis.

The decision was made due to the fact that a large number of refugees in some cities creates a burden on housing, medical care and schools.

Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Norway has provided automatic protection to all Ukrainian refugees. The country with a population of 5.6 million has accepted about 85,000 Ukrainians, which, according to Oslo, is more than its northern neighbors.

As reported, Some Ukrainian children may not be allowed into Poland. The problem concerns children of Ukrainian refugees who were “tied” to the Diia.pl electronic document of their parents or legal guardians with PESEL UKR status.
