Norway handed over to Ukraine 22 self-propelled artillery mounts, the M109 class of self-propelled howitzers, as well as ammunition and spare parts for them.
In addition, Norway has contributed to the fact that the Ukrainian military had the appropriate skills to control these weapons. This training took place in Germany.
This was reported by the press service of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
According to Norwegian Defense Minister Bern Arild Gramm, Ukrainian forces depend on the support of the West, in particular, military equipment and weapons to counter Russian attacks.
“Ukraine has requested support for this type of weaponry. The development of the war in Ukraine indicates that more heavy equipment and weapon systems now need to be provided,” says Bern Arild Gram.
The Minister noted that the Norwegian Armed Forces recently replaced the M109 artillery cannons with new artillery from South Korea, but the M109 is still in stock.
“22 of them were transferred along with related equipment, spare parts and ammunition. This is a significant contribution that Ukraine needs so much,” says Gramm.
The Norwegian Ministry of Defense notes that in the future, most likely, not all military support to Ukraine from Oslo will be disclosed.< /p>
