Norway expelled foreign driver who violated traffic rules twice

by alex

Norwegian police stopped a foreign truck driver in Tromsø twice in an hour: he refused to use snow chains, thereby violating traffic rules (SDA). This is stated on the website of the city police.

First, the police asked the driver to put the chains on the wheels, but he did not do this – and soon the man was stopped again. The foreigner was fined 11 thousand crowns (more than a thousand euros) and deported from the country. The statement stated that the Department for Foreigners satisfied the law enforcement request and banned the man from entering Norway for a period of two years.

Since the city of Tromsø is located in the Arctic Circle, the use of snow chains for trucks is mandatory: if they are not available, it increases the risk of accidents.

In September 2019, Barnaul traffic police officers drew up 14 protocols at once for various traffic violations per driver overnight. He did not stop at the request of the police and drove on at high speed, passing a red traffic light. Traffic inspectors began pursuit, and soon the van crashed into another vehicle.
