Foreign diplomats living in Pyongyang were banned from taking to the streets on Tuesday, March 16. This was announced by the Russian Embassy in North Korea on its Facebook page.
The diplomatic mission reported that it had received the corresponding note the day before, on March 15. The ban applies to local and foreign personnel of all foreign embassies, without exception. The measure will be in effect from 5 am to 10 pm local time.
According to the Russian embassy, the ban is connected with anti-epidemic measures, as well as the impending sandstorm in North Korea and its possible consequences.
Previously, a powerful sandstorm that came from Mongolia covered Beijing, causing the sky of the Chinese capital to turn orange. The storm resulted in severe air pollution and meteorologists declared the hazard level yellow.
