North Korea has warned the US of a “tougher response” over sanctions US lawmakers have proposed in response to North Korean missile launches. This was reported by the South Korean agency Yonhap on the TsNAK.
“If the United States continues to take a confrontational stance, the DPRK will be forced to take stronger and more definite retaliatory measures,” the DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement released by the North Korean agency.
The report clarifies that the diplomat called the recent launches “the exercise of the right to self-defense.”
Earlier it became known that Washington proposed to respond with UN sanctions to a series of North Korean missile launches. We are talking about launches of six ballistic missiles since the fall of 2021, each of which was carried out in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
North Korea announced on Jan. 5 that it had successfully tested a supersonic missile, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported. Also, the Armed Forces of South Korea reported the launch of an unidentified projectile towards the Sea of Japan. According to the Japan Coast Guard, the DPRK launched a ballistic missile with a range of about 500 kilometers.
