The DPRK Foreign Ministry said that the local military exercises of the US and South Korea could trigger a “new Korean war”.

North Korea warned of a “second Korean war”, accusing the US and South Korea of โ€‹โ€‹”inciting hostility”.

The corresponding statement was made on the eve of the anniversary of the truce in the Korean War, writes Bloomberg.

They believe that the joint military exercises of the United States and its allies allegedly threaten security and are one of the main factors leading to an aggravation situation on the Korean Peninsula. Peace guarantees in the region cannot be implemented as long as the US military contingent is there.

“No one can predict when the various military exercises, actually war rehearsals, that the US and South Korea are conducting will grow to Second Korean War,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to the publication, the North Korean phenomenon has so far been published only on the ministry's website and not in its official media, indicating that it maybe for a domestic audience.

“North Korea has for decades called joint exercises a prelude to an invasion and said the current exercise could escalate into a second Korean war,” according to Bloomberg.

Previously, Russia and China blocked UN sanctions against North Korea.

Recall that during the US President's visit to Asia, North Korea launched ballistic missiles.
