North Korea launched an unknown projectile towards the Sea of Japan, Yonhap news agency reported citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
According to the Japanese Coast Guard, at least two shells were fired. Presumably, these are ballistic missiles.
It is noted that the rocket fell into the water. Fishing boats in the area warned of a possible danger and urged not to approach the rocket fragments if they were found.
This is the fourth launch of North Korean missiles in 2022. The previous ones took place on January 5, 11 and 14. In the first two cases, Pyongyang announced successful tests of supersonic missiles. On January 14, two short-range ballistic missiles were launched from a railway missile system.
