Nord Stream Explosion: German Diver Refutes 'Ukrainian Saboteurs' Version

German underwater archaeologist Sven Thomas believes the version about “Ukrainian saboteurs” practically impossible.

German diver and underwater archaeologist Sven Thomas believes that it was practically impossible for several “Ukrainian saboteurs” from the yacht “Andromeda” to blow up the Nord Stream underwater gas pipelines, and that the investigation into the crime made a number of mistakes.

He spoke about this in an interview with BILD.

“For almost two years now, the international media have been discussing the version that the Nord Stream gas pipelines were blown up by a group of Ukrainian saboteurs who rented the sailing yacht “Andromeda”. The Ukrainians allegedly loaded diving equipment and explosives on board, and subsequently installed them on the bottom of the Baltic Sea at a depth of about 80-90 meters,” recalls the background edition.

However, German underwater archaeologist Sven Thomas refuted this version and considers it impossible. According to him, for underwater diving, not one yacht is needed, but a whole group of ships plus a fixed platform with cranes, anchors and ballast with a total mass of about 1 ton.

Consequently, in order to dive from the yacht, it would have to be precisely fixed above the place of the planned sabotage. And for this it would be necessary to lower 3-4 heavy anchors with ropes 300-500 m long to the bottom, otherwise the yacht would be carried away in the open sea by the wind and waves.

Sven Thomas's second argument proving the impossibility of such sabotage is the power of the Andromeda engine, which is 75 horsepower.

“This would not be enough to stay in the Nord Stream area by constantly maneuvering. In addition, the yacht could not take on board 400 kg of explosives,” the diver believes.

Recall that in the summer of 2024, information appeared in the Western media that one of the saboteurs who blew up the gas pipeline had been identified in Germany “Nord Stream”. However, the arrest of the Ukrainian never took place.
