Filling the first string of Nord Stream 2 happened on October 4, and the second – on December 17.
Nord Stream AG 2 announced that on December 29, the procedure for filling the second string of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was completed, which will go to Europe bypassing Ukraine.

“In accordance with the plan and design requirements, the thread is filled with so-called technical gas in the amount of approximately 177 million m 3, which provides a pressure level of 103 bar in the gas pipeline “, – the message says.
The company assures that this pressure is enough to start transportation in the future gas.
Putin said that the launch of Nord Stream 2 is “beneficial for Ukraine, as it will lead to a decrease in gas prices in Europe, including for Ukrainian consumers.”
Note that the gas pipeline has not been launched yet, since certification by Germany and European structures is taking place. According to forecasts, certification will end no earlier than mid-2022.
It is worth noting that the filling of the first thread of Nord Stream 2 took place on October 4, and the second on December 17. Recall that at first the certification of the Nord Stream 2 operator was supposed to be completed by January 8, 2022, but the process was frozen in mid-November.
As previously reported, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said she saw no reason to put Nord Stream 2 into operation, since it does not meet the European energy legislation. The politician also stressed that in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine the gas pipeline may be turned off.
