SAC Wireless, a subsidiary of Nokia, has announced a massive cyberattack on its internal systems. Representatives of the company said that hackers stole the personal data of many, both current and former employees.
As noted, the first signs of a cyberattack were discovered by SAC Wireless security officers back on June 16. The attack was carried out using the Conti ransomware. According to the company, criminals stole sensitive information about employees: names, dates of birth, residential addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, passport details, social security numbers and more, as well as encrypted some corporate systems. “Operators of Conti ransomware gained access to SAC systems, uploaded certain files to cloud storage, deployed malware, and encrypted all files,” SAC Wireless said in an official notices.
The hackers involved in the attack claimed responsibility and claimed that they had managed to steal files that combined weigh over 250 GB.
