President Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a video message to the Germans who came to a charity concert in support of Ukraine in the center of Berlin.
At the beginning of the video, he turned on the air raid alarm on his phone and explained that such sounds have been accompanying the life of Ukrainians for the 26th day already.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that before the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Kyiv was called the new Berlin, comparing our openness, emotions, freedom in the squares, the sincerity of people.
– Now Kyiv is closed. He was quiet, waiting for another air raid alert, another siren to force people to take cover. We cannot live like you. We are fighting for our salvation against one of the largest armies in the world, against missiles, bombs, rocket artillery, against planes and helicopters, on which the Russians are already writing: To Berlin. Because they want to go further, much further than Ukraine, — stressed the head of state.
Vladimir Zelensky recalled that 115 children have already died in Ukraine in three weeks of this war. He called it the worst war in Europe since World War II.
— We are you, we are Ukrainians, we are part of Europe. You see our desire to be with Europe. Our aspiration that we fight for on the battlefield. And which you can choose right in your society. Own opinion, in a word, pressure on politicians. For Ukraine to finally become part of the EU. Germans, you have power! Europe has power, more powerful than any missiles, — the President emphasized.
The President of Ukraine stressed that no one has the right to destroy Europe and peoples. He also recalled that Ukraine warned German politicians that it was dangerous to decide in Moscow whether Germany has gas and how much it costs.
Ukraine has repeatedly stated that sanctions are needed to this war did not start. But only when Russian missiles hit 20 km from NATO borders, when Russian tanks fired directly at our nuclear power plant, then it finally became clear to everyone that they needed to listen to Ukraine and support us, because the life of Europeans depends on it.
Vladimir Zelensky called on the Germans not to sponsor the Russian military machine, to close all ports, not to supply goods and refuse Russian energy resources.
The head of state added that he believes that peace is possible, but every citizen in Germany , Europe must act to reach it.
