No-fly zone over Ukraine and NATO membership: Zelensky gave an interview to CNN and Reuters

The Kremlin is obliged to stop bombing Ukrainian cities and only then sit down at the negotiating table.

On the evening of March 1, President Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced this in an interview with Reuters and CNN. The leader of Ukraine stressed that Russian soldiers were sent to our country to “kill and die.”

– Ukrainians have something to defend, we defend our right to life. And what are they (Russians – Ed. ) doing here? They don't understand our people, our state, our philosophy… sent here to kill and die. Therefore, we are stronger on our land, and we will be stronger,” Zelensky said.

The President also added that he regrets the lack of preventive EU and US sanctions that should have been introduced in a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, but welcomed the actions of the countries now.

NATO membership

On the issue of NATO, Volodymyr Zelensky said: in case of “unreadiness” for the adoption of official Kyiv, the North Atlantic Alliance should work out common security guarantees for Ukraine.

“Our partners, if they are not ready to accept Ukraine into NATO… Because Russia does not want Ukraine to be in NATO, they must develop common security guarantees for Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

The leader of the state stressed that Ukraine needs legal guarantees of security: first of all, it is a guarantee of territorial integrity.
