The popular American manufacturer of sports shoes and clothing Nike is closing all its stores in Russia.

The company did not renew the contract with its franchisee in the Russian Federation, Inventive Retail Group, and therefore IRG is now forced to close all brand stores.

Vedomosti writes about this, citing IRG President Tikhon Smykov.

“As inventory is depleted, IRG will be forced to close all of its stores under this brand,” Smykov said, noting that this message was a blow to him and all employees.

The exact date of closing Nike stores not reported, however, it is noted that all stores of the network will be closed after stocks run out.

According to the director of the Core.XP retail department, Marina Malakhatko, the refusal to renew the agreement with IRG, in general, may mean Nike's exit from the Russian market.

According to the IRG website, it is known that from March to May the number of Nike stores in the Russian Federation has already decreased from 116 to 56, among them 19 are temporarily closed. IRG operates 37 Nike outlets. From the information on its website, it follows that 9 stores are not working now.

Recall that on February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine, inflicting a series of missile and air strikes on our cities, including across Kyiv. The large-scale invasion has been going on for the 91st day (war of 8 years). The invaders continue to destroy Ukrainian villages, towns and cities with cruise missiles and air bombs, killing civilians and causing devastating damage to infrastructure.

In response to Russian aggression, a number of countries, including the United States, Canada, Great Britain, the EU, Japan, others, imposed unprecedented economic and personal sanctions against Moscow. At the same time, international and European companies announced their withdrawal from the Russian market.
