The head of Sport Austria welcomes the announcement of the opening of the sport and calls for the implementation of the #comebackstronger package.
At the beginning of March, Sports Minister Werner Kogler announced measures for a comeback of sport after the Corona crisis. Since the federal government announced something similar at the beginning of this week to rebuild the economy, Sport Austria is confident that the #comebackstronger package put together with organized sport will really soon be implemented.
“The necessary basis for a comeback is of course the responsible opening of the entire club sport”, emphasizes Sport Austria President Hans Niessl and therefore welcomes the announced opening prospect for May.
The following measures are already or will soon be implemented: The extension of the NPO support fund for non-profit associations, the extension of the sports league fund, the extension of the possibility for clubs to continue to pay out the flat-rate expense allowance for active people and carers, the expansion of the budget for healthy children move (an additional 600,000 euros), the expansion of the Moves in the Park program (26% more exercise units) and the recruitment and recovery of members through the “Sportscheck” (9 million).
Niessl: “In 2020 we were able to negotiate a financial aid pact with Sports Minister Werner Kogler for our 15,000 sports clubs. So that the entire #comebackstronger package of measures becomes a similar success story, the good talks must soon be followed by concrete actions. “
