The National Hockey League (NHL) has refused to admit players to the Beijing Olympics, which is scheduled for February 2022. This was reported on the website of the organization.
Thus, the NHL announced the final decision on the matter. The League refers to the increased number of cases of infection of athletes with coronavirus and announced that hockey players will not participate in the Games in Beijing.
On December 21, journalist Frank Seravalli announced that the NHL, together with the players' union, intend not to let hockey players join the national teams for the 2022 Olympics. According to the journalist, this decision could lead to the postponement of the Games themselves to 2023.
Also, Match TV reported about the possible non-admission of players by the NHL. On December 20, the TV channel noted that the league was counting on the consent of the trade union on this issue. League commissioner Bill Daley admitted the ban back in October. Then he also referred to the problem of the coronavirus.
