Mark Cavendish
Mark Cavendish has struck again. The sprint star won his fourth stage in the 108th Tour de France and broke the record for victory.
The 36-year-old Brit prevailed on the 13th stage from Nimes over 219.9 kilometers to Carcassonne after 5:04:29 hours in the final jump against Michael Mörköv (Denmark) and Jasper Philipsen (Belgium).
Cavendish not only celebrated his fourth win of the day on the current tour, but also caught up with a cycling icon. The Briton now holds 34 Tour stage wins, setting the record for cycling icon Eddy Merckx. The Belgian had his stage wins between 1969 and 1975 and also won the overall classification five times.
The Slovenian Tadej Bogacar defended the yellow jersey in front of the Pyrenees and finished 26th with the peloton. The defending champion is still 5:18 minutes ahead of the Colombian Rigoberto Uran and 5:32 minutes ahead of the Dane Jonas Vingegaard.
Patrick Konrad, who is 55. crossed the finish line and is the best Austrian in 21st place overall, 57:12 minutes behind Pogacar. Michael Gogl left the tour before the start of the stage.
