New strain of coronavirus found in French Brittany
A new variant of COVID-19 was discovered in the Brittany region in northwestern France, according to a statement on the website of the Ministry of Health of the republic.
As noted, this type of infection was difficult to identify, since the patients in whom it was found had symptoms typical for SARS-CoV-2, however, PCR tests gave a negative result.
A new strain of coronavirus was identified in a hospital center in the commune of Lannion in the department of Côte d'Armor. On March 13, 79 cases of COVID-19 were registered in the region, of which eight were with the new variant, this helped establish sequencing.
Experts are already studying a new variant of the coronavirus. They are trying to understand how he responds to vaccinations and antibodies produced during previous infections. Information about the new version has already been sent to WHO.
