It is worth noting that Pope Francis publicly apologizes extremely rarely.
Pope Francis apologized for his offensive remarks towards LGBT+ people, saying he “did not intend” to use homophobic words.
Reuters writes about this.
“The Pope never intended to offend or use homophobic language, and he asks forgiveness from those who felt offended by the use of a (homophobic – ed.) term,” said Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni.
The Vatican speaker reiterated that the Pope remains a supporter of a church that is welcoming to all, where “no one is needed, no one is superfluous, where there is room for everyone.”
It is worth noting that the Pope rarely publicly apologizes.
What preceded?
Italian newspapers recently reported that Pope Francis allegedly ordered bishops not to allow gays to study to become priests and also used a homophobic slur during a closed meeting last week.
In particular, during a meeting with Italian bishops on May 20, the pontiff said that in some seminaries there is frociaggine – a very offensive word to describe homosexual orientation.
Such remarks by the Pope were made in the context of proposals by Italian bishops to change the instructions of candidates in the seminary. The bishops received this statement of the Pope with incredulous laughter, and some – with dead silence.
Recall that in March the Pope called on Ukraine to raise the “white flag” and begin peace negotiations with Russia.
