The new Russian airliner MS-21-300 with a Russian composite wing made its maiden flight, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the Rostec state corporation.

As noted in the organization, MS-21-300, the wing of which is made of polymer composite materials, took off from the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. “The flight went on as usual,” added the specialists.

The plane was flown by test pilots Heroes of Russia Roman Taskaev and Oleg Kononenko. All systems worked normally.

Earlier, the general director of the State Transport Leasing Company Yevgeny Ditrikh announced the need for new subsidies for the initial period of operation of the Russian MS-21 aircraft.

The MS-21 is considered the “Russian answer” to the European Airbus A320 and the American Boeing 737. On December 1, Russia built the first MS-21-300 aircraft with a wing made of Russian-made composite materials. The plane was transferred to a flight test unit.
