Iran is persecuting minorities in the country for perceived disloyalty. This could fuel anti-regime sentiment and could eventually lead to more unrest.
This was reported by Channel 24 , citing a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Iran May See More Unrest
The report said that since the start of the 12-day war with Israel, the country had arrested more than 700 people on spying charges, including several whom the regime had described as “Mossad spies.”
British media reported that Iranian “intelligence agents” carried out dozens of coordinated raids across the country targeting members of the Baha'i religious minority, seizing electronic devices, personal belongings and religious materials.
It is noted that Baha'i members are often accused of espionage and anti-regime activities.
Iran's aggressive crackdown on minorities for perceived disloyalty may not immediately trigger large-scale protests, but it will fuel frustration that could spill over into mass protests, ISW said.
Let us recall that Ayatollah Khamenei recently appeared in public for the first time since the ceasefire with Israel.
