Khamzat Chimaev
Swedish mixed martial artist (MMA) Khamzat Chimaev had a bet with rival Gerald Mirshert at a press conference ahead of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. Reported by MMA Junkie.
Chimaev questioned whether Mirshert's skill in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu corresponded to his status. The American stressed that he has a black belt. The Swede, who is called the New Khabib, recalled his defeat by a choke technique from an inexperienced fighter and said that he could also force Mirshert to surrender.
“If you can strangle me, you can take my belt,” Mirschert offered the bet.
Chimaev will fight Mirshert on September 20. The Swedish fighter of Chechen origin, if successful, will bring the winning streak to nine fights.
Chimayev made his debut in the UFC, winning two wins in ten days. The Swede has been compared to the Russian UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Chimaev is the holder of a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (second after white).
