Apple has begun work on a large tablet for smart home devices. Bloomberg reports.
According to journalist Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman), Apple devices have a strong position in almost all market segments. However, the company is losing out on the smart home market. According to the information disclosed by Gourmet, the IT giant intends to release a tablet with a large screen diagonal for home use and integration with devices of the Internet of Things (Internet of Things).
The specialist noted that Apple is developing a new iPad with a 15-inch diagonal. In theory, the device can get a stationary mount on a wall or table and various connection interfaces. The foodie noted that Amazon has the popular Echo Show media screen to control smart home devices. “Add a rear-facing power plug and a wall mount bracket and you've got a competitor to Apple's Echo Show,” concluded the author.
The journalist believes that Apple has everything it needs to launch a new product line. The model can get a powerful processor for constant work with smart devices and special software. “If Apple decides to turn the iPad into a giant home device, it will not want to compromise on quality and function: it will be expensive,” the journalist said.
In mid-December, Mark Gurman revealed that the first Apple device in 2022 will be the affordable iPhone SE. The company also plans to release new tablets – iPad Pro with wireless charging and a budget iPad Air.
