The new leadership of Syria has disbanded the army and various rebel groups and is working to integrate them into the country's new armed forces.

During a visit to Turkey, Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa proposed to Recep Erdogan to deploy Turkish troops in the country bases.

Reuters reports this, citing its own sources.

According to the agency's sources, the defense agreement provides for Turkey to create new air bases in Syria, use Syrian airspace for military purposes, and take a leading role in training troops in the new Syrian army.

As is known, the new leadership of Syria has disbanded the army and various rebel groups and is working to integrate them into the country's new armed forces.

“The talks will include the creation of two Turkish bases in Syria's vast central desert region known as Badia,” Reuters reports.

Once again, the bases will help protect the airspace Syria in the event of any future attacks.

The agency recalled that Russia is also negotiating with the new Damascus administration on the fate of its two military bases in Syria – the naval base in Tartus and the air base near the port city of Latakia.

These negotiations have not yet been successful, given Russia's support for the dictatorial regime of Bashar al-Assad, which was overthrown by the rebels who came to power in Syria.

Recall that earlier, Bloomberg, citing a source in Moscow, reported that Russia was unable to agree with the new Syrian authorities on maintaining two military bases on the country's territory.
