New DJI drone equipped with 5K resolution camera

China's Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI), the world's largest consumer drone manufacturer, has unveiled the Air 2S drone for aerial photography. It will be the successor to the DJI Mavic Air 2.

Technically, the novelty repeats last year's model – the quadrocopter has retained its foldable design and a 3500 mAh battery. The flight time was reduced by two minutes, to 31 minutes, due to the increase in the mass of the drone by 25 g. The drone has become heavier due to camera updates and security systems that have received additional sensors.

The DJI Air 2S is equipped with a 20MP camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor (the DJI Mavic Air 2 used a 0.5-inch sensor). This made it possible to improve the quality of shooting in low light. The new drone is capable of recording in 5.4K resolution at 30fps or 4K at 60fps.

The drone received the MasterShots mode, in which it independently shoots the objects specified by the operator. The quadcopter itself builds the flight path and selects the shooting modes, automatically preparing the final video.

The updated OcuSync 4.0 system allows the drone to move away from the operator at a distance of up to 12 km. Flight safety is ensured by the AirSense technologies (warns of the presence of aircraft and helicopters in the air) and Advanced Pilot Assistance System 4.0 (detects obstacles in the drone's path and allows the drone to go around them on its own).

The new DJI Air 2S went on sale in two versions. The $ 999 basic kit includes a drone, remote controller, three sets of propellers, battery and charger. The Fly More Combo set for $ 1.2 thousand includes an additional two batteries with a charging hub for three batteries, four light filters and a bag for carrying the drone.
