Germany's new coach names his goals at the official presentation and reveals a personnel change.
The new DFB team boss Hansi Flick has big plans.
The official act is done: Hansi Flick was introduced on Tuesday as the new team boss and successor to Joachim Löw. Hardly surprising that the 56-year-old tried to spread new optimism. “All-in mentality”, demands Flick, which means that everyone is obliged to give everything to leave the field as a winner. After all, expectations are high, and “Germany, the football nation, is simply used to success.” At the moment, self-confidence seems to be a little tarnished. DFB interim president Peter Peters says accordingly, “The association needs its honor back.”
There will also be personnel changes under Flick. Experienced trainer Hermann Gerland becomes chief scout. He replaces Thomas Schneider. The former national player Benedikt Höwedes is to act in a new role as a link between the team and DFB director Oliver Bierhoff. On August 26th, Hansi Flick will nominate his first squad for World Cup qualification.
