New details about folding iPhone declassified

Apple's first foldable smartphone won't be out until 2023. This is reported by the 9to5mac edition with reference to the authoritative insider Ming-Chi Kuo.

An analyst at TF International Securities in his report noted that with the release of the new device, Apple is going to solve the main problem of folding devices. We are talking about the low strength of flexible screen matrices, the service life of which is shorter than that of conventional monolithic panels. If Apple fails to develop a technology that solves this problem, then the company will not take risks and postpone the release of the device.

Also, the declassified data listed new details about the device. Min-Chi Ko is confident that Apple plans to release an iPhone with a diagonal between 7.5 and 8 inches. Previously, analysts said that the foldable smartphone will have a screen diagonal of 7.3-7.6 inches and support work with a stylus.

Min-Chi Ko also believes that in order to enter a new market segment, an American company must first establish supplies and solve the problem of a massive shortage of components. In particular, at the beginning of the year, experts noted a continuing trend for a shortage of microprocessors.

The expert concluded that if Apple solves both problems – technological and production – then the release of the folding iPhone will take place in 2023.

The analyst also said that the iPhone 13 planned for fall 2021 will have a smaller screen cutout, but will become more weighty. The device will receive improved cameras, 5G modems and a larger battery.
