Professor of the Free University of Tbilisi, physicist Zaza Osmanov published a preprint of an article in which he calculated: will the Chinese radio telescope be able to detect flocks of alien probes before they attack Earth?
The article is about the FAST telescope in southern China, as well as the von Neumann probes. The latter is a hypothetical concept based on the work of the American mathematician and physicist John von Neumann. The probes in this case are self-replicating machines. In theory, such ships can be sent to a nearby star system for mining, thanks to which they will create their exact copies.
Osmanov suggested that the FAST telescope may well be able to detect such probes from their radio spectrum. In this case, the telescope can only act as an early warning system. You will have to deal with the probes somehow differently, if you have to.
