An epidemic of magnesium deficiency among the population is raging in the world. Vera Pshenichnikova, the head of the neurological department for patients with cerebrovascular accidents at hospital no. 52, a neurologist, said this on the air of the Moscow Talking radio.
According to her, the situation is complicated by the fact that it is extremely difficult to take an analysis for this trace element.
At the same time, the doctor explained that magnesium is “completely harmless”, and there are many schemes for its intake. She also praised the micronutrient diet “fashion” in the US.
In the summer, the head physician of the capital's hospital No. 71, Alexander Myasnikov, known to Russian viewers as Dr. Myasnikov, said that a magnesium deficiency leads to an insufficient amount of potassium in the body. He warned that, in theory, this could lead to heart problems.
