Netanyahu promises Trump to refrain from striking Iran

Israel struck a radar station north of Tehran on Tuesday but held off on further attacks after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with US President Donald Trump.

The strike on Iran came hours after a ceasefire was supposed to come into effect. Israeli authorities accused Tehran of violating the ceasefire by firing several missiles at Israel.

Netanyahu's office said Trump “expressed great gratitude to Israel” and the Israeli prime minister promised to refrain from further strikes.

A White House source told CNN that Trump spoke to Netanyahu on Tuesday morning and was “extremely firm and direct.”

Iran's state-run Fars news agency reported on Tuesday that its correspondent heard explosions in northern Iran hours after Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire.

A Fars correspondent reported that the blast occurred in the coastal city of Babolsar, north of Tehran. Rescue vehicles and ambulances were sent to the scene.

According to Tel Aviv, two Iranian ballistic missiles were launched towards Israel about three hours after the ceasefire announced by Trump went into effect.
