Nestle and Unilever raise prices for their goods in Russia, but do not leave the market

by alex

Nestle and Unilever reported that the price of their goods in Russia may rise by 45% from April 1.

The Swiss company for the production of food products Nestle and the British company, one of the world leaders in the market of food and household chemicals Unilever (in particular, the brands Persil, Dove, Domestos, Lipton, Clear, Timotei, “Velvet Hands”, “Black Pearl” , “100 beauty recipes”) raise prices for their products in Russia in the range of 10 to 45%, but continue to work there.

Russian retail chains received a notification on March 15.

The Swiss giant also said it was suspending capital investment in the country and halting exports from Russia to its neighboring countries. However, Nestle still continues to supply some of its products in the country.

The supply of Nespresso branded products and San Pellegrino water has now been discontinued. The exceptions were baby food, cereals, specialized food and medicated pet food.

Meanwhile, social activists are arranging actions and launched a campaign on social networks demanding that the activities of the Swiss brand be curtailed in the Russian Federation. In addition, a similar appeal from citizens was transferred to the company's administration. In turn, Ukrainian diplomats are negotiating with representatives of Nestle's top management. In addition, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal's conversation with the country's Minister of Economy Guy Parmelin is being worked out.

Recall that Unilever will not stop production capacity in the aggressor country even after negotiations with top management representatives. By the way, a letter of appeal from the ambassador was sent and the confederation of British industry was informed about the demand to stop activities in the Russian Federation.

However, the manufacturer said that he would no longer invest in the economy of the aggressor country. The company has suspended all imports and exports. The food and consumer goods giant also announced that it will stop spending on advertising in the media and other Russian platforms.

The company has been operating in Russia since 1991. It produces its products on the basis of four production clusters: food and ice cream in the Tula region, tea, cosmetics and household chemicals in St. Petersburg, cosmetics in Yekaterinburg, and ice cream in Omsk.
