The drug management department of the Ministry of Health of Nepal has given permission to use the Russian drug for coronavirus infection Sputnik V.
“This is a notification to all interested parties that a conditional authorization has been issued for the emergency use of the Gam-COVID-Vac combination vector vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Sputnik V), produced by the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after NF Gamaleya by the production unit of JSC Generium, – said in a statement from the regulator in the field of drugs in Nepal.
Recall that in the summer of 2020, scientists at the Gamaleya Center registered the world's first vaccine against coronavirus infection. The drug was named “Sputnik V”. In the first week after the announcement of the Russian President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the registration of the vaccine, 27 countries applied for the purchase of the drug.
At the moment, 60 countries of the world have registered the Russian vaccine under the accelerated program. The oldest medical journal The Lancet published the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the drug, noting its effectiveness at more than 95%.
Alexander Gunzburg, director of the Gamaleya Scientific Center, said that the drug could be more than 97% effective.
Over 287,500 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nepal. At the same time, more than 257.8 thousand people defeated the disease, more than 3 thousand people became victims of covid.
