The number of coronavirus vaccinations in the world has reached 8.95 billion. Bloomberg reports this with reference to its own calculations.

It is noted that in the world, on average, people receive 43.4 million doses of vaccines for coronavirus infection per day. If these rates continue, then in five months, 75 percent of the world's inhabitants will receive at least one dose of the vaccine, the agency writes. Moreover, in 38 countries this indicator has already been achieved.

According to Bloomberg, vaccinations around the world are uneven. “High-income countries are vaccinating 10 times faster than low-income countries,” the report says.

High rates are observed in China, USA, France, Germany and Great Britain. Low rates of vaccination were recorded in Congo, Chad, Haiti and Yemen.

Earlier, scientists at Ohio State University (USA) found that booster doses of Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines are capable of providing protection against the omicron variant of coronavirus, which reduces the effectiveness of the first two doses.
