There was a mass exodus from the Democratic Republic of the Congo prisons – more than 750 prisoners kicked their heels.
It all happened when some of the barred had to be transferred to another prison. Suddenly, a group of rebels attacked the guards.
Two policemen and three attackers were killed as a result of the shootings. Almost all the prisoners fled, out of 800 only 50 remained.
Similar cases have happened before. So, the locals are preparing for protests demanding better protection of prisons.
