The media reported that both Su-34 pilots managed to eject. One of them was allegedly found without any injuries.
Later, with the help of an emergency beacon, they found the navigator – he was much less lucky. According to Russian media, he died from the closed injuries he received. The navigator ejected, but landed unsuccessfully on a tree.
The rescuers handed him over to the medics, but they were unable to help the man.
Earlier, the network reported that the Su-34 aircraft crashed in a forest near the village of Veletma in the urban district of Kulebaki, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the Savasleyka military airfield. This is where the branch of the 4th State Center for Aviation Personnel Training and Military Testing is located.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the fighter crashed “during a scheduled training flight.”
