NATO will send more peacekeepers to Kosovo

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the bloc would send additional peacekeeping forces to < strong>Kosovo.

He stated that after the unrest on the Kosovo-Serbian border, the Alliance approved the sending of additional peacekeeping forces in Kosovo. In addition, Stoltenberg called on the parties to de-escalate the situation.

“We continue to call on Belgrade and Pristina to engage in EU-facilitated dialogue as the only way to resolve outstanding issues and achieve solutions that respect the rights of all communities. This is key to a lasting security in Kosovo and stability in the region,” Stoltenberg said.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti congratulated NATO’s decision and said that Serbia, together with Russia, are trying to destabilize the situation in the region.

“We need NATO because the border with Serbia is very long, and the Serbian army has been strengthening its capabilities recently, and they have a lot of military equipment from both the Russian Federation and China,” Kurti said.

< p>We recall that it was previously reported that the authorities of Kosovo regained control over the territory of the Serbian Orthodox monastery of Banska, near which a battle between law enforcement officers and armed attackers took place.
