On Thursday, March 24, US President Joe Biden, at a meeting with NATO leaders, announced the transfer of additional weapons systems by the Alliance to Ukraine, including air defense systems and, in general, announced an increase in military aid.
– Over the past few weeks, the United States has announced $1 billion in new security assistance to Ukraine: anti-aircraft systems, anti-tank weapons, drones and millions of munitions. I applaud the steps taken by many other allies to provide defensive support to Ukraine, and together we are determined to identify additional equipment, including air defense systems, to assist Ukraine,” Biden said.
He added that he also discussed work to strengthen NATO's collective defense, especially on the Eastern flank.
– The United States has deployed thousands of forces and additional assets to Europe, and we have welcomed the new deployments made by our allies. Today's creation of four new battlegroups in Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary is a strong signal that we will collectively defend every inch of NATO territory, the US President said.
