The exercises will take place in the north of Norway and in the Norwegian Sea.

In March 2022, large-scale military exercises in the Arctic called Cold Response-2022 will begin, which will be joined by 35,000 military personnel from 28 countries – both NATO members and Alliance partners, in particular Sweden and Finland.

This was reported in the press service of the US mission to NATO.

Such exercises take place every two years, their task is to prepare the army units of NATO member countries for possible combat operations and defense in the conditions of the north.

The participants of the exercises will be, in particular, two aircraft carriers – the American USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) and the British HMS Prince of Wales (CVF).

Military analysts note that coordination and coordinated actions in the Arctic are necessary for NATO military units due to the strengthening of Russian troops in the region, in particular, near Svalbard.

Recall that Ukrainian border guards will take part in the Sea Breeze-2022 exercises, during which they will train to perform joint combat missions with representatives of NATO countries and Alliance partners in maritime, aviation and land components.
