In Washington 9-11 During the NATO summit, world leaders will discuss issues of military assistance to Ukraine. According to the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg, a comprehensive package of measures for Ukraine should be adopted as part of the event.
He said this at a press conference in Brussels.
What to expect for Ukraine
As Stoltenberg explained, we are talking about an agreement under which NATO will lead:
This will allow Ukraine’s allies to help it protect itself from Russian aggression and ensure interoperability with the Alliance. As a result, our state will be one step closer to membership.
“I expect our Alliance allies to agree on long-term financial commitments,” he emphasized.
Stoltenberg did not ignore the determination of Ukraine's membership in NATO. According to him, a “strong formulation” must be agreed upon in the context of our state’s entry into the Alliance.
“This wording must be even more clear in our commitment that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance,” – summed up Stoltenberg.
It was previously announced that Hungary will not participate in upcoming NATO efforts to increase assistance to Ukraine, but will not antagonize other Alliance partners.
