NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg supported the proposal to invite the leaders of Georgia and Ukraine to the next summit of the alliance, which will be held in Madrid on June 29-30, considering such a good idea. It is reported by La Vanguardia.

“I believe that this is a good platform for meetings with partners, but I think that we must decide on the exact format,” the Secretary General said.

According to the publication, Stoltenberg avoided a direct answer to the question of whether Ukraine can become a member of the alliance without first resolving the situation that developed after the annexation of Crimea to Russia. “All NATO allies, including France, recognized the right of all nations to choose their own path,” he stressed.

Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the European Union (EU) Vladimir Chizhov said that the neutral status of Ukraine could help resolve the crisis around this country. “I believe that the shortest path to the neutrality of Ukraine is to dissolve NATO,” he concluded.
