At the same time, NATO demands to reduce military tensions near the Ukrainian borders.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview that NATO members are ready to discuss with the Russian Federation issues of arms reduction, including nuclear weapons.
He spoke about this in an interview with the SVS television channel.
At the same time, he stressed that Russia should reduce military tensions and withdraw its troops from the borders with Ukraine.
“NATO allies cannot give in to the absolutely key principles of European, national security. The fact that each country chooses its own path – whether it wants to be a member of an alliance like NATO or not. Also, we cannot agree that we should not be NATO soldiers in all countries that have joined NATO since 1997,” the Secretary General said.
As the Secretary General explained, if there are no soldiers in all the countries that joined the Alliance in the 90s, this will lead to the fact that these states will become “second-class members.”
We will remind, the representative of Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that NATO is “gradually invading” Ukraine, and therefore relations between the Russian Federation and the Alliance are at the “red limit”.
