NATO reacts to missile attack on Ukraine

Events in Ukraine show that the issue of security goes far beyond the region and is a global problem.

Secretary General NATO Jens Stoltenberg commented on the terrorist missile attack by Russian invaders on the cities of Ukraine on July 8.

This is stated in < strong>message on the US Department of Defense website.

Before a meeting with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, he said that the Russian invaders were continuing a brutal war against the Ukrainians.

“Just today we have witnessed horrific missile attacks on Ukrainian cities that have killed innocent civilians, particularly children. I condemn these horrific attacks. During the summit we will decide to further strengthen our support for Ukraine. Russia must understand that it cannot “wait out” us. They must sit down at the negotiating table and make a decision in which Ukraine will prevail as a sovereign independent state,” Stoltenberg noted.

In addition, NATO Secretary General thanked Lloyd Austin for changing NATO and the transatlantic partnership, in particular for his leadership in the Contact Group on Support to Ukraine with the participation of more than 50 states.

“The Ramstein format was extremely important. It truly changed the situation and allowed us all to provide unprecedented support to Ukraine. This would not have happened without your strong leadership in supporting Ukraine,” added the NATO Secretary General.

Stoltenberg said that the events in Ukraine clearly show that the security issue goes far beyond the region and is a global problem. He said that the leaders of Asia-Pacific partners – Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea – will be present at the NATO summit.

“This will allow us to consider ways to respond to the support the Kremlin receives from Iran, North Korea, and China in its illegal war of aggression against Ukraine,” Stoltenberg added.

We recall that it was previously reported that the White House responded to the missile attack on Okhmatdyt .

In addition, we previously informed that Kuleba addressed the world because of today's missile attack.
