A senior NATO official stressed that this is a very complex transfer process at all stages.
In the transfer of US-made aircraft F-16 Ukraine needs a lot of time, since the process involves training both pilots and technical personnel, as well as secure infrastructure on the ground to effectively use these platforms.
This explanation was voiced on Thursday at a briefing on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington by a high-ranking representative of the Alliance, Ukrinform reports.
“This is a very complex transfer process at all stages,” the official noted.
The interlocutor explained that this is not only about moving aircraft from one countries to another. They must be reconfigured according to the standards of one country where they were based, to Ukrainian realities. This provides for the possibility of their deployment at Ukrainian airfields and the use of weapons systems available in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, transferred by Western partners. In this context, it is also necessary to ensure the safety of airfields from possible attacks from the Russian Federation.
